Silverstone is in the countryside, and where you sleep decides how your race weekend goes. We rank every option by the trip from bed to gate, using the circuit's own shuttle times and prices.
**The Immediate Answer:** If you want to walk to the track, book official camping or glamping at the circuit. If you want a hotel room, stay in **Milton Keynes or Northampton** and take the official shuttle bus (£8 to £10 per person per day, booked in advance). Towcester and Buckingham are closer but tiny, so rooms go first. London works only if you accept a long day on trains and buses each way.
The [2027 British Grand Prix](/f1/british-grand-prix) runs **2 to 4 July 2027**, with gates open from Thursday 1 July. Silverstone sits in rural Northamptonshire with no train station and no taxi drop-off at the circuit, so the real question isn't "which hotel" but "how do I get from my bed to the gate every morning".
1. Stay at the Circuit: Glamping, Camping and Trackside Rooms
This is the only way to avoid race-day traffic completely. Everything below is sold by Silverstone itself, with prices as listed on the official site in October 2026.
| Option | Distance to circuit | What you get | Price (official) |
|---|---|---|---|
| NOVA Glamping | Inside the circuit, next to the F1 Paddock | Furnished tent, Inner Track access, breakfast, restaurant and bar | From £337.50 per person, per night |
| The Ridings Glamping | Under 5 minutes' walk | Furnished tent in woodland, breakfast, restaurant and bar | From £275 per person, per night |
| Abbey Meadows (camping) | 10 minutes' walk | Pitch for tent or live-in vehicle, electric hook-up included | £930 per pitch |
| Woodcote Fields (camping) | Under 10 minutes' walk | Pitch for tent or live-in vehicle, hook-up available | From £480 per pitch |
| Silverstone Golf Club (camping and glamping) | 10 minutes' walk | Pitches and pre-pitched tents, permanent facilities | Not listed |
| Escapade Silverstone | On the edge of the track at Maggotts and Becketts | Private residences with kitchenette and terrace | Price on application |
| Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone | On site, facing the starting grid | 197-room hotel | Not published for race weekend |
**Our take:** camping is the best value per day if you're a group, because a pitch price is shared. Glamping prices are per person, per night, so for two people over three nights NOVA starts at about £2,025 before tickets. The Hilton and Escapade are the most convenient beds for the race, and they're priced that way. Ask early. Going all in? Our [British GP VIP hospitality guide](/guides/british-vip-hospitality) compares the hospitality packages.
2. Milton Keynes: The Best Hotel Base
Milton Keynes is one of the two big towns near the circuit, so it has a wide choice of hotels, and its station has direct trains from London Euston. On race days the official shuttle runs from **Milton Keynes station (about 50 minutes, £8 per person per day return)** and from town pickup points (about 45 minutes, £10). It's our first choice for anyone who wants a proper hotel room and a predictable morning.
3. Northampton: The Closer Alternative
Northampton is slightly closer by shuttle: **about 40 minutes from the station (£8)** or the town pickup (£10). It's a good fallback when Milton Keynes prices jump, and the Sixfields Park & Ride is on this side of the circuit if you're driving.
4. Towcester and Buckingham: Closest Towns, Fewest Rooms
Towcester is the closest town, with a **15-minute shuttle (£10)**. Buckingham is about 20 minutes. Both are small market towns, so their few hotels and guesthouses are the first to sell out for race weekend. If you find a room here at a fair price, take it.
5. Oxford, Banbury and Coventry: Bigger Cities, Longer Rides
Each of these has a station shuttle: **Banbury and Oxford Parkway about 50 minutes, Coventry about 80 minutes (£8)**. They make sense when everything closer is gone or overpriced, or if you want a city to come back to in the evening.
6. London: Possible, but Plan for a Long Day
There's no official shuttle from London. You'd take a train to Milton Keynes (or Northampton, Banbury or Oxford Parkway) and then the station shuttle. Add the train time to the shuttle time and expect a very long day, with early starts on race morning. Works for a single day; tiring for a full weekend.
7. Which Base Is Right for You?
| Base | Shuttle to circuit (official) | Shuttle cost per person, per day | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| On-site camping or glamping | None needed, walk in | £0 | Groups, first-timers who want the full festival weekend |
| Towcester | About 15 min (town transfer) | £10 | Anyone who finds a room early |
| Buckingham | About 20 min (town transfer) | £10 | Couples, short stays |
| Northampton | About 40 min (station or town) | £8 to £10 | Hotel fans on a budget |
| Milton Keynes | About 45 to 50 min (town or station) | £8 to £10 | Most visitors: biggest choice, trains from London |
| Banbury / Oxford Parkway | About 50 min (station) | £8 | Late bookers, city lovers |
| Coventry | About 80 min (station) | £8 | Last resort |
| London | No direct shuttle: train plus station shuttle | Train fare plus £8 | Day trips only |
8. Driving In: Parking and Park & Ride
Parking at Silverstone is **very limited and must be booked in advance**. Many car parks are on grass up to a 30-minute walk from the gates, and Silverstone advises allowing at least an extra hour. The Park & Ride sites at Sixfields, Hinton and Bicester cost **£8 per person per day plus a £10 vehicle pass**. There's no drop-off point at the circuit, so a taxi can't leave you at the gate. Motorbike parking is free with no booking.
9. Booking Timeline
- **Now (autumn 2026):** race tickets are on sale. Book on-site camping or glamping at the same time if you want it.
- **Before 31 March 2027:** book shuttle buses, Park & Ride or parking at bgp.silverstone.co.uk for the cheapest advance prices.
- **As early as possible:** hotels in Towcester and Buckingham, then Milton Keynes and Northampton. Prices climb as the race gets closer.
